| dc.description | In the middle of the second half of the XIX century Matanzas was inserted in the history of Cuban sport, under the influence of its economic and cultural splendor. The “white” society, especially the sacraocracy of the so-called Athens of Cuba, flourished amidst the sweat and blood of black slavery. During the pre-revolutionary stage, disciplines such as volleyball, volleyball, table and field tennis, basketball, gymnastics and nautical sports were practiced in private schools, which, unquestionably, constituted very valuable teams for the development of sports, but all of them were formed by people of white skin. Independently of this reality, the practice of sports during Physical Education classes, included as a compulsory subject in the current study programs of the country's educational system, contributed in a favorable sense. | dc.description.abstract | A mediados de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX Matanzas se insertó en la historia del deporte cubano, al influjo de su esplendor económico y cultural. La sociedad “blanca”, especialmente la sacarocracia de la nombrada Atenas de Cuba, florecía en medio del sudor y la sangre de la esclavitud negra. Durante la etapa prerrevolucionaria disciplinas como él, voleibol, tenis de campo y mesa, baloncesto, gimnástica y los náuticos eran practicados en colegios privados, que, indiscutiblemente, constituyeron equipos de mucha valía, para el desarrollo de deporte pero todos estaban formados por personas de la piel blanca. Independientemente a esa realidad, tributó en sentido favorable, la práctica de deportes durante las clases de Educación Física, incluida en calidad de asignatura obligatoria en los programas de estudio vigentes del sistema educacional del país. Al indagar sobre las mujeres que marcaron pautas en los deportes matanceros es el objetivo de esta investigación. | es |
