The present paper describes the numerous changes that the socioeconomic life of the Cubans underwent during the second half of the 20th century after the advent of the triumph of the Revolution in 1959. The first constructions carried out by the revolutionary government throughout the country are described in the paper as well as new urban development’s among which is the Reynold Garcia residential area located in the eastern part of Matanzas city. This residential area has been the embryo of the now called Peñas Altas People’s Council.
