An English-Spanish Glossary of False Cognates.
Jordán Cruz, Emily
This work is focused on the creation of a bilingual glossary of false cognates
that will serve as an instrument to help students of English as a foreign

their studies. In the paper a brief study of cognates, as well as the main aspects
for the elaboration of glossaries are presented. The paper is structures in an
introduction, a development, conclusions and recommendations. In the
introduction, the problem, its solution and the objectives are stated as well as
the results of the bibliographical search about the topics related. In the
development the proposal of the glossary and its structures is developed. This
work is intended to be a reference document for students and professors of

Didactic alternative to motivate students towards the a1 level english lesson.

Didactic alternative to motivate students towards the a1 level english lesson.
García Fernández, Jacqueline
Motivation has been included in the factors that influence the achievement degree of
Language Learning process. It provides the stimulus needed not only to initiate the
language learning, but also to sustain that desire during the learning process. As
motivation, warm up is a fundamental component of the teaching- learning process of
English as a foreign language. The above mentioned serves as point of reflection on
how teachers think students must be motivated to the learning of English as a foreign
language. The present research deals with the way warm ups behave and the
importance and effectiveness in the motivation of A1 level students at the Language
Department of Matanzas University. The theoretical foundations that supported this
investigation were the works of Vygotsky, Leontiev, among others. The application of
the Dialectic Materialistic Method, as well as Theoretical and Empirical ones, gave the
authoress the opportunity to elaborate a Proposal of Didactic Alternative that includes
objective, indicators to be considered and methodology to be followed which takes
shape in the activities to be developed as warm ups. The Didactic Alternative helps to
increase students’ motivation towards the English lessons. Finally, the practical
significance of the research entails the structuring and implementation of a Didactic
Alternative of warm ups activities.

Didactic games to stimulate motivation in a1 level students at the University of Matanzas.

Didactic games to stimulate motivation in a1 level students at the University of Matanzas.
Silveira Pérez, Mariela
Motivation is widely acknowledged in the context of students' social and linguistic
development. Games and motivation play important roles in language learning as they
favor students' performance, activate their rapid and strong thinking, and propitiate the
conscious acquisition of contents. An aspect to be considered in this direction is the
poor use of games to promote college students' motivation, helping them be actively
involved in the language learning process. Due to the last, the scientific problem is:
How to stimulate motivation to learn the English language in A1 Level students of the
Major Program in Accounting and Finances at the University of Matanzas? The use of
games not only facilitates the development of motivation by keeping interested and
work levels but also language learning. The authoress addresses the issue from a
theoretical and practical interconnecting of gaming methodology with theories of foreign
language acquisition. So, the research is guided to design: A system of didactic games
to stimulate motivation towards English language learning in A1 Level students of the
Major Program in Accounting and Finances at the University of Matanzas. A system of
theoretical and empirical methods was applied, supported by the application of the
dialectic-materialistic method, which allowed the justification and recommendation of a
solution to the scientific problem identified, as well as drawing conclusions and provide
recommendations. The proposal was elaborated taking into consideration the
pedagogical, methodological, and didactic rationale of the Cuban pedagogy nowadays.
The research also exposes the main basis for the further application of the scientific
result.

System of didactic activities for teaching technical vocabulary in english lessons for computer science engineering major.
Bennet Goicochea, Johana
The use of English language as a global means of communication brings a
challenge to English classrooms. With the spread of the student-centered
approach and the continued increasing use of the Common European Frame to
develop communicative competence in students, which includes professional
communication, language teachers are often faced with the task of making their
lessons more meaningful and practical. The following research is intended for
teachers and teachers-in-training who want to provide opportunities for their
students to engage in real-life communication in the target language, with the
intention of training technical vocabulary. The research brings about a scientific
problem on teaching technical vocabulary in English lessons for students of Level
A2 at the Majoring in Computer Science Engineering at the University of
Matanzas. Designed to meet the students need, the objective is to elaborate a
system of didactic activities to teach technical vocabulary in English lessons for
the mentioned majoring. The systematization of the theory, supported by the
application of the dialectic-materialistic method, as well as theoretical and
empirical ones, gave the author the possibility to elaborate a system to be applied
in the subject English Language at Level A2. The system is structured in
objective, indicators to be considered for the evaluation, bibliography, and
methodology, and helps students to boost technical vocabulary related to their
Majoring; and takes shape in the activities of the specialization it serves. The
practical significance entails the structuring of a system of didactic activities to
develop technical vocabulary as a support to Face2Face activities.
